GMADA comes up with Third Urban Estate in Mohali

Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has approved the third residential urban estate around Chandigarh. The latest urban estate approved on Thursday will come up along the proposed Mohali-Kharar bypass. The seven-kilometre long 200 feet wide bypass will create an alternate link between Mohali and major parts of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The area of the new urban estate hasn’t been demarcated yet. So the number of plots to be carved out cannot be estimated, but they will not be less than a few thousand.

Aerocity and Mullanpur urban estate are the other Urban Estates
Aerocity, GMADA’s first urban estate, was launched this month. The second urban estate in Mullanpur, close to PGI in Chandigarh, is set to be launched this year. While 4,000 freehold residential sites are being offered in Aerocity, almost 2,000 plots are expected to be carved out in the Mullanpur urban estate.

Land Acquired For Mullanpur
Land for the Mullanpur urban estate has almost been acquired. After notice was issued to acquire 419.95 acres spread across Mullanpur (114.56 acres), Devinagar (186.67 acres), Bharonjia (100.93 acres), Ferozepur (17 acres) and Ratwara (.76 acre), the Land Acquisition Collector has been directed to take order for land acquisition under Section 7 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

GMADA intends to acquire land for the urban estate along Mohali-Kharar bypass this year.
