CHB to give flats to unsuccessful candidates of UT housing scheme

Chandigarh Housing Board ( CHB) has put up a proposal to give flats to the unsuccessful candidates in the UT housing scheme, the draw for which was held a day before Diwali.

Though UT officials maintain that a formal decision is yet to be taken on the issue, the applicants are already rejoicing in anticipation.

Ever since the results of the draw were announced the applicants were demanding that all the shortlisted candidates be given flats. The argument was that applicants in 'Category C' were transferred to 'Category B' after revision of pay scales and this had killed their chances.

The board has now sought an additional chunk of 250 acres of land, 80 acres of which will be utilized for additional flats.
