Learning from the past experience of Sector 76-80 residential urban estate, parts of which were still under litigation even almost a decade after the first housing scheme of Mohali was launched in 2001, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) Tuesday decided in-principle not to launch its much-awaited residential urban estate in Mullanpur. The GMADA feels that until the litigation over parcels of land under acquisition was solved and the possession of entire land acquired under the scheme is obtained, it will not start the project.
A significant decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is also GMADA Chairman, in Chandigarh.
Of the total 447.34 acres of land under acquisition, 121 owners of around 140 acres of land under acquisition for Mullanpur urban estate have procured stay on their dispossession till further orders from Punjab and Haryana High Court.
