Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has decided to start the process to acquire land for the project to create a bypass from Mohali to Khanpur to Kurali.
The bypass road has been proposed between Dara Studio in Phase VI and Khanpur near Kurali, that would divert the traffic coming from Chandigarh and Ropar side by decongesting the existing Mohali-Kharar stretch known as killer stretch. The bypass road would be 200 feet wide.
UT Admin. had planned to construct a bypass road between Sector 39, Chandigarh, and Khanpur to reduce traffic pressure on Mohali-Kharar stretch on NH-21, but the project failed to take off and now GMADA has taken up the initiative.
