Mohali:Big dreams

Government has sanctioned Rs. 192 crore for providing 100 percent sewerage and water supply to satellite towns of Mohali including Kurali, Derabassi, Lalru, Kharar, Banur, Zirakpur and also to village including Sohana, Mauli Baidwan, Chilla, Lakhnour, Chachumajra, Bakarpur, Madanpura, Kambli and Kumbhra.These works would be evenly distributed to Public Health, PWD and GMADA to ensure their time bound completion within six months.

The state government has approved regional plan for entire Greater Mohali area and master plans for six planning areas including Mullanpur, SAS Nagar, Kharar, Banur, DeraBassi and Zirakpur,that were submitted by Jurong International Consultants. Thus seven plans have been approved by the state government and these areas will be the first totally planned areas of Punjab.

GMADA will hand over the maintanence of parks to Municipal Corporation Mohali that would invite tenders to get these parks maintained for next ten years by a professional land scaping company. Rs. 10 crore have been sanctioned for neighbourhood park project and landscaping of parks will begin by February end.


A 10 MGD capacity Sewerage Treatment Plant being constructed at the cost of Rs. 37 crore was near completion and GMADA has planned six more STPs for Local Planning Areas of Mullanpur, Kharar, Banur, Derabassi and Zirakpur. All intercity roads between Chandigarh and Mohali have been six laned.GMADA will provide reflectors to all sector dividing roads of Mohali besides proper signage’s on commonwealth games pattern. He said that it was imperative for all of us to prove our road engineering to make traffic safer and smooth for the public. GMADA will expedite work on road connecting SAS Nagar with International Airport at the cost of Rs. 267 crore. Work on 200 mtr wide Mullanpur road from Chandigarh Punjab border being constructed that cost of Rs. 290 crore will also be expediated.

To meet problem of water shortage, Rs. 360 crore Kajouli Project is being set up. In this project 27 kilometre line from Kajouli to Mohali would be laid at the cost of Rs. 170 crore and treatment plant at the cost of Rs. 55 crore would also be constructed. The process for acquisition of land for this project was in final stages and acquisition would cost around Rs. 55 crore and tenders for this project would be floated soon.

A Kharar byepass from Sector 56 A to NH 95 would constructed at the cost of Rs. 250 crore. Also work on 200 mtr wide road connecting NH 21 to Sector 73, 74 with an approx project cost of Rs. 145 crore will commence soon. The other projects approved are 200 mtr wide road from 73/74 to NH 21 (Rs. 75 crore), 200 mtr wide vertical grid road from 80/81 to Kharar/ Banur (150 crore), 100 mtr wide vertical road from 79/80 to Kharar-Banur Road (60 Crore), 200 mtr wide road connecting NH 64 with NH 22 (235 crore) widening of road from DIPLAST Chowk to end of 74/75 (20 crore) and widening of road from Kumbhra Chowk to PCL chowk (20 crore).
