On January 6, 2009, Haryana government had made a the Regulation of Property Dealers and Consultants Act under which the property dealers and the developers engaged in the sale and purchase of property had to register their firms with the district administration.
To implement the Act, district revenue department had issued notices to a number of property dealers but only a few had responded.
Panchkula district revenue department, the administration has now set a 10-day deadline for property dealers towards getting themselves registered. Authorities have made it clear that after a strict action shall be taken against defaulters.
The state government had enacted the Act save people from fraud and to prevent the construction of illegal colonies. People were urged to carry out the deals only through the registered dealers or builders. According to the rules, Rs 25,000 is the fee for the licence for dealers which would be valid for five years and could be further renewed for Rs 5,000. Rs 500 per month would be charged for the delay in renewing the licence.
The licence fee for companies, firms or societies has been fixed at Rs 50,000 and the renewal fee are Rs 10,000. Rs 1,000 per month would be charged for the delay in the renewal.
