On 28 November 2011 Monday, all eyes would be focused on the draw of lots for Ecocity residential project in Mullanpur, wherein approximately 1.58 lakh persons would vie to grab one out of 740 plots on offer. Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) is also slated to give successful applicants the plot numbers, which on earlier occasions were allotted after another draw of lots conducted later, reducing the time frame for actual possession of the plot. This time, we have decided to allot the plot numbers at the same time when we take out the plot winners in the draw of lots. This would enable plot holders to be able to take possession and begin construction when all the paperwork and money involved have changed hands. He said, "Each lot would have a bar code on it and would be different from others. This would enable us to identify each and every winner in the draw of lots. Also, we are going to have live telecast of the draw of lots on a few cable channels as well as have a videographer at the site to record all proceedings so that the chances of any foul play is eliminated." The draw of lots on Monday would be the second draw of lots after Aerocity residential project conducted in late September-early October last year and the first for residential plots in Mullanpur. Land acquisition for another residential project in the area, Mullanpur Urban Estate Phase II, which tentatively has around 600 plots of all sizes, is on the verge of completion and officials say that the project would be launched sometime in June-July next year.
