The department of Town and Country Planning, Punjab, on Monday published the much-awaited masterplan of Mullanpur Local Planning Area, which has envisaged developing 6,109 hectares spread across 33 villages in the Chandigarh periphery, as Punjab’s first “eco-town”.
For inviting objections in writing from general public, the copy of masterplan and existing land use plan was displayed at the offices of Chief Administrator, Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), and Deputy Commissioner in Mohali besides Chief Town Planner (CTP) of Punjab.
The objections can be sent to the CTP within 30 days, after which the state Government will examine and consider the appropriate objections before formally notifying the masterplan for its implementation.
The experts from the Jurong Consultants Private Limited of Singapore, in the masterplan submitted to the Punjab government, have proposed Mullanpur as low density, country living, resort centre and northern gateway to Greater Mohali.
