The district administration plans to construct a bypass between Sector 39, Chandigarh, and Khanpur to reduce traffic pressure on Mohali-Kharar stretch on NH-21.

Two years ago, the four laning project was started. The issue of Mohali-Kharar road widening project would be completed by September 4, 2010.The administration has decided to construct a bypass between Sector 39 (Maloya) and Kharar to reduce traffic congestion on NH-21.
