Greater Mohali Area Development Authority(GMADA) has decided to act tough with illegal paying guest (PG) accommodation owners.It has identified 100 illegal Paying Guest accommodations in city, GMADA authorities have asked them to submit an undertaking that they will shut their operation within 15 days or face proceedings for resumption of their properties.
GMADA Said,if PG owners failed to do this, resumption proceedings would be initiated. In 2007, GMADA had decided to allow the residents to run PGs from the residential areas, but the decision received stiff opposition from the various residents welfare associations who were of the opinion that policy was in violation of its earlier policy of not allowing any commercial activity in residential areas.
