Pinjore bypass to Baddi Delayed

Travelling on the Baddi-Nalagarh road through Pinjore will continue as nightmare as Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have failed to settle the dispute over transfer of 250 acres of land for construction of the much-needed Pinjore bypass. The bypass is proposed to divert traffic from a point near the Surajpur bridge on Panchkula-Shimla Highway and join Pinjore-Baddi road opposite the Pinjore Aviation Club. Last March Haryana government had proposed this 7.5 km bypass, which was later approved by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

However, for construction of the bypass NHAI had asked HUDA to hand over 250 acres of land. A number of meetings have been held between officials of ministry of road, transport & highways, HUDA and Haryana government but till now no decision has been taken. A top HUDA official said that HUDA had paid Rs 67 crore as compensation when the land was acquired and now they wanted the Union ministry to compensate them for transferring the land to NHAI.

Daily 25,000 vehicles ply on the Pinjore-Baddi road. The two-lane 20-metre-wide road was proposed to cross through Rampur Seori, Surajpur, Manakpur Thakurdass, Manakpur Nanakchand, Lohgarh, Dhamala and Sukhomajri villages before culminating at Khera-Basol village near the Pinjore Aviation Club. The bypass will also join new sectors and proposed three phases of industrial area to be developed on both sides of the Panchkula-Pinjore highway and Pinjore-Nalagarh road.
